On September 18, 2024, the Honorable Lance M. Africk informed President Joseph Biden that he intends to retire from regular, active service as a U.S. district judge effective October 1, 2024. For over two decades, Judge Africk has served as a district judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana, in addition to one decade as a magistrate judge.
