Attorney Admissions and E-Filing Privileges

Required for Attorney Admissions and E-Filing Privileges:

Additionally, attorneys must have an individual PACER account and must request e-filing privileges through PACER in conjunction with the request for admission to EDLA. Notice of PACER Account Requirement and instructions can be found in the Petition for Admission to Practice Packet.

Location and Time

Admissions are held in open court at approximately 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday. Applicants must submit their admission packets with the Clerk's office by 4:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Wednesday they are seeking admission and be present at 8:45 a.m. on the Wednesday of admission.  Applicants may deliver to the Clerk's office their admission packets with original signatures or email the packets to ECF_Registration@laed.uscourts.gov with scanned original signatures. The "/s/" typed-signature convention is NOT permitted for these packets.  They should also make arrangements to be presented by a member of the Bar of this Court in accordance with Local Rule 83.2.

Upon written request and for good cause shown, the Court may grant the applicant’s request for admissions without a personal appearance. Please see Local Rule 83.2.2 for the applicable procedures.

Fees

An admission fee of $199.00 is payable at the time of admission along with an additional $45 fee for triennial dues. In the first year of the three-year dues cycle (2026, 2029, etc.), the total amount due is $244. That total amount may be reduced thereafter by $15 for each elapsed year in the cycle. Checks should be made payable to Clerk, U.S. District Court. The statement is to be filed and all fees are to be paid at the time of admission.
